Forest In India

India is full of natural resources. Natural resource can be mineral resource, water resource, and forest resource. Forest resource is the greatest among them. Forest also helps in making economic condition of India better.

The forest provide us woods from the trees such as teak, walnut, rosewood, and oak is used to make furniture.Wood from other trees is used as fuel for cooking and for warming houses. Forested ares
get better rainfall compared to areas with no tree to cover. When trees respire they release oxygen that all living beings need for their survival.


Below are listed some of the featured forests in India 


1.Jim Corbett National Park:

This is oldest forest  in India situated in Nainital district of Uttarakhand. It has been extablished in 1936 to save endangered Bengal tiger.It is spread over a total distance of 520.8 sq. km . It has the main species i.e Tiger , but it is also a home to  barking deer, sambar deer, hog deer and chital, sloth and Himalayan black bears, Indian grey mongoose, otters, yellow-throated martens, Himalayan goral, Indian pangolins, and langur and rhesus macaques.


2.Nilgiri Biosphere reserve:

It is the first biosphere reserve situated in western ghats.  It includes the Mudumalai, Mukurthi, Wayanad and Bandipur national parks. It has a wide variety of fauna, including the tiger, Asian elephant, Lion-tailed macaque and Nilgiri Tahr.

3.Bhavnagar Amreli Forest

It is home to Asiatic lion.It is situated 3 km south of Bhavnagar City,  in Gujarat. It is adjacent to famous Gir forest.

4.Amarambalam Reserve Forest


Amarambalam Reserve Forest is one of the largest reserve forests of Kerala. This forest reserve in India has huge a variety of birds, some endemic to the region, and some endangered and near threatened species as well. It also is home to the Lion Tailed Macaque and the Nilgiri Tahr.


5..Tikarpada Wildlife Sanctuary

It is situated at a convenient location 120 km from Dhenkanal in Orissa.It is actively conserving and breeding the endangered species of the crocodiles in the Mahanadi river in Tikarpada. Though tigers are rarely seen now, the wildlife within the sanctuary includes the Indian adjutant stroke, red jungle fowl and Indian pitta. Apart from wildlife ,boating, white water rafting, fish angling and treks through the forest are activities one can indulge in at the sanctuary
